UmMusa
Hi, Ramadan is half way over, so there are two weeks left before the Eid (holiday). In case anyone would like to take the opportunity to learn (and teach) about this holy month for Muslims I wanted to share some links with lapbooks and stuff like that. This is one for a lapbook, but note that this year is 1433 in the Islamic calendar http://ummabdulbasir.wordpress.com/2009/09/16/ramadan-lapbook-1430/ http://ummabdulbasirscreativecorner.blogspot.com/search?q=lapbook&x=0&y=0 (I can't seem to put the link in a word, instead it comes out as the long address line). That page has links to a few different activities. This one is for LaylatulQadr, the Night of Power.. http://ummabdulbasirscreativecorner.blogspot.com/2010/08/laylatul-qadr-mini-display.html And finallly, http://tjislamicstudies.blogspot.com/ is a great resource for any Islamic Studies, Arabic, and other general homeschooling materials. Amira
Thanks for the ideas. We always try to do something during Ramadan, but we've been moving ever since it started this year and haven't done anything yet. We won't miss Eid al-Fitr though, since one of my sons was born that day and we always celebrate his birthday then.
Beth in OH
UmMusa, I have recently begun working with many people who have relocated to the US from Africa and other countries. I just had a lightbulb moment as to the meaning of your name. I recently learned it when one of my Middle Eastern colleagues renamed an American-born colleague AbuTatum. I just wanted to make a connection and say "hi" ;).
UmMusa
Cool! I really don't go by that IRL, but it's handy for internet boards :D Mom of Musa!!
Beth in OH
Can you tell me where you found the print in your avatar? I would love to hang something in my office. It would be very inviting.

IsabelC
Thanks for the resources. My kids are vaguely aware of Ramadan from Muslim friends, but it might be nice to do something for it.
