edeemarie
My dd6 is loving this book series! We have read the first 3 (Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Marvelous Land of Oz, and Ozma of Oz) and I am wondering how long to continue. Have any of you read the whole series? Do the books have the same flavor as the 3? What were your favorites? Any of them we should skip? Between Wizard of Oz for her and Narnia for her brother it may be a while before we get to any other books!
Guest drewmama
We have listened to the first 7 and plan to finish the series. So far, we have loved all of them.
MouseBandit
I was a HUGE fan as a kid and had every book there was. Some of the later ones do change flavor some, but still were good. Tracey in Oregon
Sue in WI
My oldest ds likes all the books. He was about your dds age when he first started reading them. He enjoyed listening to most of them on his mp3 player while reading them. Most of the books are on Librivox.
MadsandLilysMom
My girls adore Oz. We read Baum's 14 books and several of the later books by Ruth Plumly Thompson. It took us a year to finish 20 of the books in the series (we took breaks to read other books as well), but it was a memorable and wonderful year. There are so many memorable characters in the later books that should not be missed. Baum also wrote several other books about Oz characters in different settings. We really enjoyed Sky Island, the Sea Fairies and Little Wizard Stories of Oz. We have moved onto other books and series now, but we revisit our old friends every now and then. I still have a few books by Thompson that we haven't read yet. If you are collecting the print books I highly recommend the editions by Books of Wonder. They are beautiful and well worth the extra cost. For the diehard Oz fan this book is very neat. My oldest has spent hours pouring over the pages. http://www.amazon.com/Queer-Visitors-Marvelous-Land-1904-1905/dp/0976888564

It would probably make a great birthday or Christmas present for her.
kristi26
Thank you! That is good to know since I am not sure that our library has all of the books. I found a large number of them available as free Kindle downloads. I'm hoping to have the kids read them this year. :)
tammyw
We'll be finished with book one tonight. We bought the hardcover Books of Wonder version - it's fantastic! I am definitely going to slowly add more to our collection, since they really are great.
mumto2
I have read the series 3 times as read aloud / bed time stories. Plus many of the others. Love them all.
