Saving data in a pdf file.

Recommended Posts

In my son's course, he has some pdf files that he's supposed to open, type into, then save and submit. The first one says the file name is Adobe Acrobat Document. We can type directly in it and save it with no problem. The second one, also saved as an Adobe Acrobat document, doesn't work that way. I was able to open and save it. But it tells me that we cannot save data into it. Why is it working for one and not the second one?

It all depends on the options the person who created the original pdf allowed.

:iagree: The creator of the file ha to have saved it so that the fields were fillable and could be saved that way.

I still cannot get my dad to understand that the main reason people use pdfs is because that file type is generally NOT editable by the receiver. :tongue_smilie:

Well shoot. The directions say to save it, type into it, save it again under a different name, and then submit it. I'll send an email to the instructor. I've read through the Orientation documents and this issue is not addressed anywhere. Maybe they want ds to type the information into a separate document. It would have been nice to actually say that though. Hmph!
