Guest
I want to make some kind of sauce for the top of our burritos tonight - such a wide variety out there - any tried recipes? I kind of don't have any great ingredients on hand. I do have some tomato sauce, and lots and lots of bell peppers. :tongue_smilie: (My dh decided to grow bell peppers, we have an abundant crop but our desire for them is not so abundant, ha!) No cream cheese in the house, no other types of peppers. So, anything? At this point, I don't have anything in particular in mind.
brett_ashley
Sorry I didn't see this sooner. This is one of my most asked-for recipes. Ranchero Sauce 1 tablespoon butter or bacon drippings 1/2 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper 1 jalapeño pepper, chopped 1 large garlic clove, chopped 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 2 cups canned chicken broth 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro Melt butter in heavy large skillet over medium heat. Add next 6 ingredients and sauté until vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes. Add broth and tomato sauce and cook until sauce thickens and reduces to 1 1/2 cups, stirring frequently, about 20 minutes. Mix in cilantro. Makes about 1 1/2 cups. Bon Appétit November 1992 Linda Archer: Orlando, Florida
missmoe
How about just mixing some sour cream with a little salsa.
