Maverick
How do I decide which one of these ds should do? I spent 30 min at Hastings looking at prep books but I am still confused & I didn't really want to buy both at $20 each. What's your preference & why? newbie
I am not expert, but my guess would be is dc stronger at writing or reading. We do Lit a lot because dd loves Lit. But with online, sometimes the material is questionable, so we switch to Lang. Hope helps, Jet
Gwen in VA
Ds1 did Lang & comp; Dd1 did Lit. I would say to do whichever one is your child's strength. If neither (or both) are strengths, then think about college. Will your child have to take some lit classes as either core or distribution classes? Then a strong high school lit class might be VERY useful. If, however, your child won't have to do much lit in college and he will do a lot of writing (history or conomics or art history, etc.), then a strong writing course might be more relevant. danielle
Be sure to check any college that your child is interested in (even wild guesses). There's a wide difference in what credit an individual college will award. For example, one college I looked at will award 13 hours for French AP, one will award 3 hours!! Some will not award credit for Eng Lang, but will for Eng Lit. I'd choose based on the child's college wish list. Danielle
