bethben
We are trying to get our hardwood floor possibilities into a lower cost. We are now looking at floors with a medium dark stain. If you scratch a stained floor, does the scratch show really clearly? I know all those dents and dings are "character", but I'm wondering if the scratch that's the natural wood color shows. Veritaserum
We have black walnut floors. We chose a darker wood with a clear finish rather than going with a lighter wood and a stain because scratches do tend to show. Dh had dark-stained cherry wood floors growing up. He remembers his parents having to refinish the floors every few years because of scratches.
LaxMom
Ours are 150 year old pine stained walnut. They were refinished long before we moved in 13 years ago and, aside from general dulling of the finish, bear no evidence of abuse/wear.
