Acorn
It looks like I might need to have a hernia repair. Anyone BTDT?
Dana
My husband had a hernia repaired a couple years ago. It wasn't too bad... outpatient surgery. Biggest problem was that the beeper to let us know when we could go down and see him wasn't working. Recovery wasn't difficult.
curlylocks
I had an umbilical hernia repair when I was 20 weeks pregnant with youngest DS. It wasn't too bad. I spent 1 night in the hospital and was on "light duty" for a few weeks. (I couldn't vacuum, lift anything heavier than 10 lbs, etc.)
Acorn
Thank you for writing. Did you/your husband have laparoscopic? I haven't met with my surgeon yet, but have just been reading on the internet.
soonermomma
My husband had a large umbilical hernia repair two years ago. They did an incision right through his belly button that was about three inches long. He was pretty sore for a few days, but the hardest part was not being able to lift anything over ten pounds for about four weeks. They had him off work for four weeks, even though his job didn't require him to do any heavy lifting.
curlylocks
I had a small, upside down semi-circular incision just above my belly button. One thing I found that helped was to hug a small pillow against my tummy when moving around, getting up and down, etc. It seems like such a small thing, but it really helped.
