Wendi
Anyone have any suggestions? I have found "textbooky" type books at the library, but I'm wondering if there is anything better. Wendi

Wendi
Thank you! I just requested Bully Boys through interlibrary loan!
ABQmom
I read somewhere recently that Justin Morgan Had a Horse takes place during the War of 1812. I've not read it, but it's listed in the Sonlight catalog. You might check on that one.
Another Lynn
There's a Landmark book called The Pirate LaFitte and the Battle of New Orleans. It focuses on Andrew Jackson in Florida and then in the Battle of New Orleans.
LisaNY
Albert Marrin's - 1812 - The War Nobody Won is excellent. I don't know the ages of your dc, so I would warn you that some of it can be graphic in its detail of war. I would recommend it for at *least* 7th gr. & up.
