Guest cungaooa
I haven't really started yet. I've been a little cautious as well. I am also waiting to find out the sex of the baby before I spend my money.
Cassy
I bought his first calculus books when I was about 6 months pregnant :D. (Not really). Cassy
mumto2
I didn't do much before. Very minimal- just 3 or 4 sleepers, a pack of onsies, and receiving blankets. Waited on diapers to try hospital samples. Same for other products--lotions etc. We didn't know what we were having -- Dd was very shy. Large item wise just car seat, crib, and changing table. I will tell you that newborns can have opinions on their clothes. DS screamed when in sleepers. He could not tolerate his feet being covered. New newborn stuff was needed. I didn't have much so didn't care.
Tanikit
I waited til after the 20 week scan and then bought all the big items first and some clothes. I was quite far pregnant before buying the hospital bag list and after DD was born I found I still needed a few things and sent my DH out to get them. Second DD I just bought a new cot mattress and a new outfit for her to come home in and I did that quite late in the pregnancy. I tried to get teh hospital bag stuff bought earlier for the second because I had to be hospitalised for other issues around 32 weeks pregnant. Tracy
I was due in March, so I didn't buy anything until after Christmas so I could take stock of what others bought for us for Christmas. Then, I only bought what I would need when I first brought the baby home. My last trip to the mall was about a month before she was born, and I wish I had not waited that long. By that time, the baby had turned around and was resting her dear little head right on my tailbone, which made walking around very painful. boscopup
I already had the calculus book, so didn't need to buy that. :D And I not only had an accelerated learner, but he was an accelerated gestater too, so I bought all the baby stuff after he was born. :tongue_smilie:
ElizaG
We didn't know beforehand whether our first was a boy or a girl, so we had to buy all her math books in white and yellow. They're practical, but the pink ones with bows on them are much cuter.
jenbrdsly
I think this might also be a cultural question, because I thought that in the Jewish tradition it was considered bad luck to purchase anything until after the baby was born, right?
