Emagine
For some reason my son just can not grasp making two words into one. He reads them fine in a book. He can not write or tell me how to do it in Lang Arts though. He is very visual. Does anyone know of a game online somewhere that does contractions? We have tried various worksheets as extras. To him it makes zero sense. Thanks Edited April 5, 2012 by Emagine

Lily_Grace
We used Apostrophe The Elf. I wrote contraction words on the large tagboard strips and we practiced being the elf, making a swiped fingerprint over the letter we were stealing. misidawnrn
I didn't read the other posts but for contractions I used a stack of index cards. I wrote the separate words on one card each and the contractions on another card ie: he is he's, they will they'll (6 cards) and then lay them on the floor like match up game. DD loves it. I made an "is" and "will" card for every contraction it would be used in, not just one. Hope that isn't too confusing.
BatmansWife
I thought I was on the general board and you were in labor....I opened this thread to see how many minutes apart your contractions were. OK....now that I realize we are on the curriculum board....I went to Google and typed in Contraction Games. Here are three sites, I'm sure there are more: Treasure Trove Game more contraction games and more.
Ruthie in MS
I have found some great contractions games on http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/ They have some great free games. http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/search?keyword=contractions+free&subjectarea=0&startsearch=1 http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/search?keyword=cupcake+contractions&subjectarea=0&startsearch=1 http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Contractions-for-a-Rainy-Day Mine love to play the games. I'm not sure how that'll help with his writing/spelling but it has worked wonders with my dd's comprehension.
