CandaceC
What are your favorites? Probably EASIER chapter books...I'm looking for a few chapter books for my girls to read independently while we are learning about this period. THANKS! WillsMominMO
We have two books we've enjoyed. The first is Streams to the River, River to the Sea by Scott O'Dell. It focuses on Sacagawea so the first chapters are actually about her being captured and marrying Charbonneau. The other book is Seaman by Gail Karwoski. The title is deceptive because it doesn't focus on the dog entirely, but does bring him up frequently throughout the narrative.

Elizabeth in MN
My daughter suggests the Kirsten books by American Girl for this time period. It's been a while but she believes Kirsten's parents talk about Lewis and Clark at some point. Maybe the second book?
Jayne J
We are currently reading Lewis and Clark and Me: A Dog's Tale, and the kids really like it. It is told from the perspective of Seaman, Lewis' Newfoundland dog.
