  1. I kept requesting them through inter-library loan until my library bought the whole set. Tracey, Ozark Ramblings is my blog and I will try to make sure everything is tagged correctly but here is the final summary with all the links. http://www.oramblings.blogspot.com/2013/06/science-of-disney-imagineering-levers.html
  2. My 10 yr old listens to Hank the Cowdog audiobooks read by the author. He also loved all the Little House books on CD.
  3. blank templates http://www.homeschoolshare.com/lapbooking_resources.php templates submitted by others http://www.homeschoolshare.com/index_lapbooks_master_list.php Dynamic 2 Moms has free lapbooks for download. This is their American Revolution one http://www.dynamic2moms.com/americanrevolution.htm Just click on "More" at the top to see their other subjects.
  4. I have a 10 yo boy that is completing Zeta. I was considering switching to Teaching Textbooks for pre-algebra. Do you think I should do MUS pre-algebra first to "fill in the gaps?"
  5. Henty was an Englishman. Very few of his titles even take place in America. True To the Old Flag is about the American Revolution but the hero is a loyalist. I don't think you'll find any hint of "America is the new Israel" in his books. Since they are out of copyright, you can find samples and whole books online or for a Kindle, etc if you want to preview them before buying.
  6. We have two books we've enjoyed. The first is Streams to the River, River to the Sea by Scott O'Dell. It focuses on Sacagawea so the first chapters are actually about her being captured and marrying Charbonneau. The other book is Seaman by Gail Karwoski. The title is deceptive because it doesn't focus on the dog entirely, but does bring him up frequently throughout the narrative.
  7. That is just Joyce's way of saying some days will have more intense work than others. If you've been drilling a new concept or struggling today, then maybe tomorrow you just "play" some of the learning games.
  8. I would get a separate kit for each child. AAS organizes the cards by what has been mastered and what still needs reviewing for phonogram sounds, key concepts and spelling words. It would be very difficult to remember which card was being held for review by which student. Also, by level three they will be making their own Silent E book and each will need their own copy.
  9. My son has auditory tendancies and really remembers facts learned by music. We got the skip counting CD by Math U See to help with multiplication. I used Scaredy Cat Reading for Phonics. Each lesson has a song. He still sings "The vowels are important and they're good friends of mine. No word is made without one, I sing them all the time. AEIOU...AEIOU." The CD's also contain the author reading each lesson out loud.
  10. I see most people talking about using RS with high school aged children. I was considerring getting the Spanish (Latin) for my 10 year old son. We would be counting it towards school hours but learning it in hopes of a mission trip to Peru. Anybody think it would be effective for this?
  11. In the years since my son's birth I never went to the doctor (about 7 years). then last year I had a terrible pain when they brought down the lap bar of a rollercoaster. Turns out I had a seven inch ovarian tumor. After surgery and treatment I now go every 3 months. I had other symptoms that I had been ignoring. Never again.
  12. I checked mine and it worked. I was expecting a specific email and it wasn't there so maybe there are some issues?
  13. Math U See does it in a very fun way--Decimal Street. There is the unit's house, the tall tens apartment building, and the hundreds castle to start with. Mr. Demme explains how only nine of a kind can fit in a house and if it has too many some need to combine and be carried next door. This is covered in the Primer and Alpha levels.
  14. Lot's of people seem to be jumping on this deal and the price is going up. The Pouches are now $13.99 not $10 and the laminator is now $40.26 not $31. I was holding off till my next credit card cycle and it cost me $13 in savings.
  15. We finally have enough reward point on the Disney card to start planning a trip ourselves. I can only say that my husband often made a salad for himself at the fixin's bar at Pecos Bill--lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms.
  16. Home Science Tools has a downloadable disection guide here http://www.hometrainingtools.com/eye-dissection-project/a/1379/ Beth
