NanceXToo
Am I the only one who purposely avoids going virtually anywhere on Charter Day like the plague? I can only imagine how dreadfully crowded all those places must be. It's a weekend, AND it's free. It's a nice concept but I'd rather pay and go on a much less crowded (week)day lol. A.Balaban
What's Charter Day? I am relatively new to PA so I would love something free!! :)
A.Balaban
There is a flyer on that page and it lists the following participants: Camp Curtin Historical Society Capital Area Genealogical Society Historical Society of Dauphin County Friends of Midland Cemetery Franklin County Historical Society Harrisburg Chapter DAR Mechanicsburg Museum Association Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society Northumberland County Historical Society Pennsylvania State Archives Society of Mayflower Descendents State Library of Pennsylvania Susquehanna Trails Genealogy Club York County Heritage Trust Not sure if any of that is useful to anyone else, but I think it sounds exciting- even worth the crowd. Free is free afterall. :D
Sahamamama
Yes, it could save you some money, especially if you have a large family. HTH. :lurk5: :lurk5:
NanceXToo
What's Charter Day? I am relatively new to PA so I would love something free!! :) The "charter" in Charter Day refers to the charter King Charles II of Great Britain granted Pennsylvania founder William Penn on March 4, 1681. It's typically celebrated the second Sunday in March, and admission to various museums and historical places of interest statewide is often free.
