joyfulhomeschooler
What would you choose and why?
Murrayshire
We are using SL core 1+2 this year for my 3rd grader....In a way, I wish we just started SOTW 1 instead. SL 1+2 moves way too fast in my opinion. I wanted to use core 3 with my dd in 4th, so that is why I chose 1+2. We've added hands on fun with history pockets and my kids love to cook so we tried to fit that in with what we were studying. This year with SL 1+2, we've added in coorelating readings from SOTW. My kids enjoy the readings and they are enjoying the readings in SL, too. So, SOTW would be a slower pace and more in depth than SL 1+2. Hope this helps and good luck! joyfulhomeschooler
That does help. Thanks! Anyone else?
camikins2010
Just so you know SL does have SOTW in Core G & H
joyfulhomeschooler
That's good to know. Thanks. Although we plan on going back to MFW after next year...unless we REALLY love SL. MFW doesn't use SOTW 1 it starts with 2.
lbakos
My 8yo is doing Core B and I think I would've liked to start with SOTW1. I think CHOW is great so far and we're going to read it along with SOTW1 next year. I don't think we'll be purchasing Core C next year. I don't think it's worth it for us. thegirlwhopaintedtrees
I'm considering Core B for the Fall. Why wasn't it worth it for you, Ibakos?
WIS0320
If you want to cover world history in a year Epi Kardia might be worth a look. It is supposed to be good for use with multiple ages. It is not scheduled the way that SL is and provides a looser framework sort of like TruthQuest. It gives book and activity recommendations and a pacing schedule. http://www.epikardia.com/
joyfulhomeschooler
That does look good... but we already own SL B+C thanks to a friend who very generously gave it to us. I am trying to keep our budget down this year and since we already have that and SOTW 1 I want to use one of them.
