MariannNOVA
(sorry this is long) The person who administered the vaccine gave the shot too much to the back of the arm (ulnar nerve) and he experienced awful pain. He saw the pain specialist who said to use allve or advil and it would take about a month or two till there was improvement. He saw the osteopathic physician a few days later, and relief was immediate. In about 5 days after the osteopathic visit, dh felt back to normal. The injection was given three months ago. Last week dh traveled to nyc on business -- for the first time ever, he did not check the bed bug reports online where he was staying (only staying one night - you will see why I mention this in a minute). He stays over Sunday night, comes home Monday night. Wednesday he shows me two marks/welts near his left armpit -- look like mosquito bites. We put tea tree oil on them, it relieves the itching and they hurt when he touches them. On Thursday, (why yes, we have had a FUN week here - :glare:) he tells me there is a rather large lump in his left arm pit. On friday, he has another bite/welt in the crook of his left arm - tea tree oil again. We do hot compresses on the under arm lump which does make it smaller. Saturday a.m., he goes to our family practice -- doc says axillary gland is swollen - (I concur). orders blood work, tells dh the hot compresses are a good idea, keep doing them, has no explanation for the welts, tells dh to call monday to get a sonogram of the lump. Doc isn't impressed - frankly, I'm not either as the compresses seem to be doing the job of shrinking the lump. DH continues advil for pain, and heating pad on the lump which is getting smaller. The glands in his groin ar getting tender as are the ones near one's elbow and I assume this is because the one under his arm is draining. He is drinking tons of water, taking his usual pro-biotics, and sleeping well and eating well. No fever. Tonight, he soaks in a hot tub with epsom salt. Lump under arm continues to get smaller, glands near elbow (I cannot remember what they are called - and I don't think they are really glands) and glands in groin are pain free. He gets out of the tub and there are three welts coming out beginning at the top of his spine and going down - about an inch apart from each other and four small welts just near his armpit near the original two welts. Shingles? He is not in pain. Bed Bug bites and an immune reaction? I cannot find anything to support this. any ideas. Sorry this is so long. MariannNOVA
Folliculitis? Nope -- doesn't look like that. I am seriously thinking shingles -- I have had to ask him 10 different ways about 'pain' and finally he understands what I am talking about -- 'pin pricking sensation' -- and he says yes.
