Halcyon Posted January 21, 2012 Share Posted January 21, 2012 My heart goes out to you. I was hospitalized 1 1/2 years ago and we have insurance, but hadn't met the deductible. Our bill was over $3,000 for just one day in the hospital. We called and negotiated down a bit if we paid in cash. We took all our savings and paid it. It was a hardship. It just feels so awful when you're paying upwards of $900 a month in insurance and you get a bill like that. Hopefully, you can negotiate with them. Explain the situation, explain what you can pay monthly, even if it's $20. Many, many people are in your boat so it won't be like they've never received a call like that before.
