Momling Posted January 20, 2012 Share Posted January 20, 2012 I wouldn't worry. Knowledge of grammatical terms is not tested on standardized tests (that I've seen). happypamama Posted January 20, 2012 Share Posted January 20, 2012 Last year (grade 3), the language arts section of DD's portfolio for the state included the following: a list of books we'd read that I considered to be "general literature" (ie not specifically focused on history/science/music), a brief description of how what sorts of things we had done that might count as LA, a cursive writing sample, a poetry sample that she had written, a narration she had written for history, and a page or two from the third grade BrainQuest workbook. We really like the BQ workbooks for a change of pace and to catch things that we might miss; they also are great for showing the state that you did study spelling or punctuation, if you don't do them in a formal way.
