Rebecca
Does anyone have any opinion to share about Rosemary Sutcliff's King Arthur books or Jane Yolen's King Arthur Book (Sword of the Rightful King)? Thank you! Rebecca
Momling
I can only say that my daughter didn't care for the Sutcliff series and was annoyed that I made her read it.
prairiegirl
Well, we really liked Sutcliffe's Arthur and we liked Yolen's book as well but I would not let a child go through it on their own. I read it as a read aloud so I was able to change words (swearing) and sentences (sexual content.)
Rebecca
Thanks. I have read the first and last of Sutcliff's books. Is there more sexuality and swearing in the Yolen book? Appreciate the feedback, Rebecca
Rebecca
Just wanted to update and say that we found a retelling of Arthur on Gutenberg and downloaded the audio from librivox that I really like. It is a retelling of Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte D'Arthur called Stories of King Arthur and his knights by U. Waldo Cutler. Rebecca
Bloggermom
King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table is a great choice. Tales of King Arthur is another good one.
