4ofus
But I'm not sure where to begin. I have had limited exposure to any exercises besides cardio, so I need PICTURES! The few web links I have looked at have descriptions but I need PICTURES! Any recommendations for books or links to check out? My little hand weight tree has 2, 3, & 5 lb weights, so I am truly a beginner. I like to learn thorougly as I go, so I need a resource that also explains the muscles I'm using, why it works, etc....I like details...I want to grow my brain at the same time :). Hope you guys have something to recommend! Thanks!
Blueridge
I have heard that this is a good program. You might check for it at the library to see if it's what you are needing: http://www.amazon.com/Strong-Women-Young-Miriam-Nelson/dp/0553588737/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1325275481&sr=8-5 I would also recommend Bill Phillip's Body for Life or his Transformations program. Negin
Have you seen this thread? Fabulous sale and lots of great DVDs, including using handweights and for all sorts of levels. This sale can't be beat. :D
LaxMom
Bodybuilding.com has video of exercises by muscle. A majority of them depict the movement with heavy weights, but it's the same motion with 3 lb dumbbells as with a barbell. I can give you the lineup of what I do for my strength training class, if you like.
