m0mmaBuck
She's my favorite neice so my gut reaction is to buy her something awesome (whatever that is) but I know I am setting a precident for the baby showers that are sure to follow (I have 15 neices/nephews). What's an appropriate dollar amount to spend? For reference, I give $100 as my standard wedding gift for neices/nephews. Thanks.
kalanamak
When I was given a shower, I was shocked at how much people spent. I don't mean well paid professionals, but secretaries. I like to get something practical (Like a diaper bag a man will carry!) and something very cute. If money is tight for her, clothes past the new born stage is helpful. Everyone gives newborn. I aim for 9-12 months. Sometimes you can look ahead to the season and get deals, like a discounted winter coat for NEXT season's size. I do about 50$. m0mmaBuck
Good ideas! I'm really bad with this stuff!
beccad777
$50 or less is a good amount. I do practical things that I would like to receive, like diapers, wipes, lotion, socks, pacifiers, etc, and a keepsake item that is special for that child. Something like a nice picture frame or a special wall hanging or stuffed animal. I have something like this for all my kids that was given to them at birth and will save for them. Another special thing is a handmade blanket or quilt. If I give one of these, it is likely the only gift I give as it tends to be more expensive, either money wise (if I am buying it), or timewise (if I am making it).
