momsuz123
Hi all, I have incorporated so much into our calendar time - the kids love it. I want to add a birthday time for our family and extended family (I have the hardest time remembering my dh's side). I was thinking of a wall calendar, or for their binder, all the months with little cakes for each person in the family, the date on the cake, and then glue that to the month. I swear I saw this somewhere on someone's blog, but I can't find it. I am also not clip art savy, but I can print others:001_smile:. Anyone know what I am talking about or have suggestions? MeganW
I'm not sure of the post you are referencing, but would love to hear more about everything you have in your calendar time!
momsuz123
I got a lot of my ideas for calendar time from the links below. We do the pledge, copywork is the date written out, then in shortened form. Someone does the time on the board, but they both have to show me the time on their Judy clocks. We do make the date with money (they take turns for their day), we do the days in school with the math u see version (hundreds, tens, ones). Some of this is laminated and then on the board in the school room. They also have their own binders where their own hundred day sheet is (they cross of the day), tally marks, each month song (on Meacham's site), tooth tally chart for when they lose their next one, I think that is it. I like calendar time because it kind of gets us all in the mood. I need to incorporate a prayer in there or copywork from the Bible. I try and mention if we have something special or different going on that day. http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/Calendar.html http://mama-jenn.blogspot.com/2010/02/our-calendar-notebook.html http://www.jmeacham.com/calendar/calendar.binder.htm
Chris in VA
Having everyone's b-day on a cake is very classroom-y; I've seen that in every preschool/kindergarten I've ever been in! LOL Another way to do it is to get some stickers and put them on the calendar each week--something to denote different activities or holidays or whatever. Or, you could make a graph of the months and then put a sticker for whomever has a b-day in that column. Keep it up all year, or add to it at the beginning of the month. Just some ideas.
