raganfamily
I am planning to use Discovery of Deduction. For those that have used it, do you need to purchase the teacher's edition as well? Thanks
elegantlion
Short answer: Yes Long answer: Yes, because this is formal logic. We completed Art of Argument and barely looked at the teacher's edition. The logical fallacies are easier to understand. Formal logic deals with letters and propositions and opposition, and can get confusing quickly. I read through the TE over the summer and ds and I are working through the book together. It's nice because the TE is an exact replica of the student book only with answers. IMO formal logic is a subject that needs to be discussed with another person. My ds gets it easily (he's very logical, so I'm not surprised. I think he's part Vulcan), but some kids could get bogged down and need help to maneuver through the maze of thinking.
