Jenny in Florida
Jenny - The problem with this scenario is that those older friends go off to college and leave you behind. We've tried to mitigate that with cc classes, but a few classes doesn't replace friends, especially friends so rare. But maybe your son will go away to college at the same time (early for him) and that problem will be solved. Sigh.Nan That's more or less his plan. As I said, his closest friends are all one and two years older. They are all scheduled to graduate at the same time (because the one who is oldest went back to school at 10th grade age but opted to begin with 9th so that he would start with everyone else). My son started his full high school schedule this year and plans to finish in three years, one year ahead of his friends. The loose plan at this point is for him to do a year of community college here (probably doing a certificate program in an area that interests him and might set him up for part-time jobs) and then either transfer or apply as a freshman to a four-year university when his friends do. That way, he can spend all four years close to home with them but still head off to college a little early and with a few classes and possibly a certificate already done.
