I used whatever version of Mavis Beacon that was on the shelves in 1994 and it is the only typing instruction I've ever used. I can type up to 100 words a minute. I too learned from that era of Mavis Beacon! It stuck too. I had gone off to college typing with two index fingers in 1995. I could chat on IRC that way and was pretty quick with it. Then the summer of 1996, I did Mavis Beacon that my dad had on his computer. After that, I typed really well, and I was even faster! I've retained it. Satori Posted August 30, 2011 Share Posted August 30, 2011 We used Mavis Beacon for Kids, as my then dd5 demanded to learn to type. It turned out to be my favorite out of all the kid typing programs we tried. I don't have experience with other Mavis Beacon programs though. I know that Lion does not support Power PC software and I am seeing Mac versions that list Snow Leopard etc but not Lion. or if not Mavis Beacon some other inexpensive program? Thanks!
