mamamoon
i have a 2nd grade beg. reader. she does not really do chapter books yet, but reads level 1 readers, picture books, and knows most site words. i just want to get to where we really should be as far as spelling. thank you so much!! :D
Tess in the Burbs
yes, start at level one. My kids were reading really well when I finally got AAS and we did 1 in a month, 2 in a month and then slowed down as we moved farther into it. But they need the solid foundation of rules to build upon. and it won't take long.
BinahYeteirah
I plan to start my 9-year-old with level 1. She reads at about 6.5 grade level. I expect we will fly through, but I want that foundation. I just need to finish cutting up the letter tiles and we will start.
Aurelia
Yes, start at level 1. It will help to reinforce her phonics.
boscopup
I would definitely start in level 1 in your case. It should reinforce her phonics and help her with multi-syllable words, which will probably increase her reading ability. :)
SnMomof7
I am remediating my DH and I even started HIM with level one. There is a lot of good stuff in there :).
Dobela
In lev one the student is supposed to be able to immediately give the sound for the first set of cards. My 11 yo missed about 5 of them to my great surprise. He had a very extensive phonics course that ended less than a year ago. I am very glad I bought level 1 now.
