lettucepatchkids
anyone use these programs together? How does it look for you? IDK if i should follow Handwriting Without Tears letter introduction order, which is by stroke... or All About Reading, which is done in alphabetic order. FairProspects
We do both in whatever order they are written and it hasn't mattered in the slightest. I will say that I don't have ds write the letter I am introducing in AAR, but sometimes we trace it in glue or shaving cream or rice. Ds did know all his letters before we started, but it hasn't confused him at all to do Capital B activities in AAR and be learning to write Capital K & R the same day in HWOT. MerryAtHope
If you do mix up the order of the introduction of the letters in AAR, make sure that you still do the Language Exploration parts of the lessons in the order they are written, because these build on each other throughout the book. SnMomof7
Because AAR doesn't specifically teach letter formation it should be pretty easy to use whichever penmanship style you use :). We don't use HWT but we just do whatever letter we are doing in AAR order in a tray of lentils and on the paper etc. It isn't to mastery at this stage, just another introduction/repetition for us. lettucepatchkids
thanks!! so i don't need to have it fit into a nice neat box lol I think I'll just move thorough each program in the order they lay them out... one to work on phonics/letter recognition etc... one to work on letter formation
