Amy loves Bud
There is a love bird frequenting our bird feeder. He's been coming by for about a week now. Yesterday he was on our back fence trying to make conversation with a blackbird. It is very cute. We'd like to see if we can catch it, because I don't think it will last long around here. Any suggestions on how we should try to capture it?

Any suggestions on how we should try to capture it? Can you borrow a bird cage and place inside it some sort of food that might attract it? This might work if the bird was once domesticated and escaped--that is the theory, is it not? Alternatively, place a food supply on the ground when it is in your yard and swoop down with a long handled net. This is probably easier said than done. :) Jane
Jean in Newcastle
I caught a domesticated bird once that was flying free with a big butterfly net. I'm sure it wasn't happy at the time (and I suppose it is possible that a bird could "die of fright") but our bird lived for years afterward. The alternative was that a cat or the cold would kill it if it was left alone out there.
