MelissaM
My 13 yo dd wants to try an Intro to Psychology book/course. I'm leaning toward "Psychology For Dummies" since it's lighter reading than a textbook. but am looking for a better idea if there is one. Any suggestions? Also, can/should we count this as a high school credit?
Beth S
My 16yo dd just finished "Homeschool Psych", which is a newly published book. You can get more info & email the author at http://www.homeschoolpsych.com It is intended as a bridge course for Christian homeschoolers to be prepared for college Psych 101. It has a study guide, related internet links, project/essay suggestions. It is one-semester high school course, if you do all the optional activities. It was not overly difficult, so I believe your 13yo could handle it, maybe with a bit of help from you.
Janie
We actually used The Complete Idiot's Guide to Psychology. I'm a big fan of the Idiot's Guide books and this one was a winner. Caveat: the chapters on Freud and sex would (should) be omitted for a 13 yo!
Kareni
No personal experience with the course; however, Oak Meadow also offers a syllabus for a Psychology course. Regards, Kareni
Kareni
Just thought of another book that is a fun and easy read in the area of Psychology that can inspire some wonderful dinner table conversations. It's Quirkology: How We Discover the Big Truths in Small Things by Richard Wiseman.
