ChrissySC
I like that the CM medthodology stated to prepare for narration too. While you are reading the links above, consider this idea too. There was a post a short while back discussing narration. In the beginning you will need to have the child orate their narration. You may even need to model, perhaps many, many times for them. Encourage the child's own words, opnions, and reflections. There may not be any opinions or connections. That is fine. Read the above links and consider rereading the WTM. You will find that the narration is used for a different outcome. This will make a difference in how you approach narrations. Neither is wrong, but I tend to use more of a CM approach in grammar stage. I would use coloring pages related to our material/selection read from SOTW. I still use coloring pages, but from other resources now as well. I print a title and lines on the back of the page. The illustration seemed to assist my dd in making a connection visually to retell the "story" of what she had read. I still write her narration, 4th grade, sometimes. :) I do make her speak in complete sentences now as well. Jen+4dc
SWB's mp3s on her website are also quite good. :iagree: WWE Hands Down! (Writing with Ease) :iagree: This is where we really practiced and "mastered" how to do what I had learned from the mp3s.
Hedgehogs4
SWB's mp3s on her website are also quite good. WWE Hands Down! (Writing with Ease) :iagree::iagree: The lectures helped especially before starting WWE, and then really, that has been the thing--lots of days of just doing it from WWE and lots of patient coaching from me has made him a great little narrator. boscopup
Another vote for SWB's lecture on teaching writing in the elementary years and WWE. She gives an example in her lecture on how you can lead them to their narration. I found that very helpful.
