sadiegirl
I had a call from a friend last night that has a daughter in ps and he called me to see if I had any workbooks etc. that he could use to help his 6th grader with summer study. I have older boys and unfortunately I have given or sold most of the 6th -7th grade books that would be for good for his daughter. My question for you all is can you give me so great go-to websites that I can pass on to him for math skills, reading comprehension and review questions? I have just recently really cleaned house on our textbooks and I don't have much to pass on. thanks

ZooRho
I would almost tell the friend to give the child some placement test for some of the math programs out there. Several kinds, like Saxon, Singapore, Abeka, etc just to get a feel for things on what the child knows. The child probably needs to have a good review of basic facts, I have tutored kids that struggle. And the biggest thing is they dont' have a grasp of the basic facts. Instead of worksheets though what will help more is calling out the facts during the day, letting the child help with shopping, figuring out the cost of things, counting money, cooking. Using numbers in real lif is what really helps. Playing games, like monopoly or other games that can involve math also will help. BUt here are a few places for some other worksheets. http://www.math-drills.com/ http://www.dadsworksheets.com/2008/09/03/rocket-math-strategies/
mompotter
I know that Sam's club carries some great workbooks this time of year for summer.
EppieJ
Critical Thinking Co. has some great workbooks that tackle all that. As far as free/online, you might suggest Khan Academy for math. For math facts practice, Timez Attack is fun.
