plain jane
who would be willing to post some of your dc's outlines here? I'd love to see how these books translate to outline writing. This is my first time teaching outlining (and to be honest, I didn't really learn it in school) so I'll be relying heavily on the WTM chapter and other resources. I've heard these books lend themselves well to outlining, but would love to see it "in action". Anybody willing to share? :D
Create Your Ritual
I'd love to see this as well.
jeri
but it didn't work so well with these books. They are really interesting to read! But I think that because of that, they are difficult to outline. Each chapter usually starts with a story, and then they weave the information into what you are reading. Anyway, it was like pulling teeth to outline (but I'm not an outline expert!) so I broke down and bought the student and teacher books and we went with the questions in those. I think a more traditional nonfiction book would be easier to outline. Sorry I don't sound so positive, but as they say around here, your mileage may vary! YMMV jeri
lighthouseacademy
I haven't totally BTDT but I started IEW with my son this past year and it has been teaching him outlining in a rather painless way for both fiction and non-fiction materials. I would show you, but his chickscratch outlines are not very legible right now and they really won't make a whole lot of sense without the IEW explanation- but they work.
