Hankins3
Hi all. We are in the market for a new printer, and given the direction things are going within the household, we should probably look for something that has the capability to handle a fair amount of printing, can print on cardstock, and can handle some nice graphics. Anyone have any good suggestions? What do you have, and what are your pros and cons? Thanks! I always like to hear how other people like what they are using! Cheryl in NM
We LOVE HP. That's all Dh will use. I bought a Canon once because it was cheap and we couldn't find the right drivers and had trouble hooking it up to our network. HP seems to have the most drivers and best capabilities. You'll just need to research which model will work best for your needs.
ChiknGirl
We have an HP Photosmart C4750. We bought it about a year ago and it was served us very well. Prints on regular paper, cardstock, etc. Copies and scans. Ink refills are reasonably cheap, depending on where you get them.
AK_Mom4
Another HP fan here. Currently, we have the OfficeJet 6500 series fax-scan-copier and it is a real work horse. Not only does it handle everything for homeschooling, but I work from home and it's my office printer as well. Things I love: cartridges are easy to find and cheaper at Costco, flat bed copier/scanner, wireless, reasonable fast, good photo printing
nukeswife
I have two HP color laser jets. A 2600n and a CP2025, I believe they've both been replaced by newer models, but I love them. The CP2025 is one that do automatic duplexing which is awesome. It prints one side, sucks the page back in and prints the other side. The toner is about $100 per color but each cartridge can print about 3500 pages (or about 7 reams of paper) before being replaced. We only change the black out about once a year and the colors 15-18 months. I <3 my HP printers.
Disney Dreaming
We just bought a new HP Envy 100 D410 series a few months ago-LOVE IT. For most school printing I just bought a Brother HL-2270DW series since the toner lasts much longer than the ink for the HP. It really just depends on what you are wanting in your printer(and how much you want to spend).
purplemama
I just recently bought an HP Officejet Pro 8500A Wireless. I LOVE it! My previous printer jammed, wasted paper/ink by taking up extra sheets when I was trying to print front and back, and DRANK ink like it was nothing. The 8500A has a duplexer, so I don't have to turn my pages when I am printing on two sides, which is a big plus printing out Math Mammoth workbooks and other documents. It makes excellent copies, too. The ink is more expensive to buy, but it definitely uses less than my old printer. I LOVE this printer! Hankins3
Thank you everyone! We are printing more and more for HS, and my son is taking an interest in graphics. We also are going to start printing more photos and cards, since we are moving into that area of business, but I wanted some opinions on what other people were using too. I definitely want something that can handle all of it, and that won't cost me an arm and a leg for ink or toner, but at the same time, since we will use it for business, I can also write it off. ;) That will help. Thanks everyone!
