Teaching Word Roots

I am looking for a program to teach my girls the Latin and Greek roots of words. I don't like how many vocabulary programs seem "all over the place". I am looking for something that teaches the roots of words, without getting into declensions, etc.

 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Have you looked at English From the Roots Up? Sounds like it might fit the bill. We used it last year and liked it enough.

We used and liked Vocabulary Vine! The students make flashcards with the roots, one or two or so at a time. With girls, especially, you can uses colored index cards, sparkly gel pens, etc. to make it fun. :)

Vocabulary from Classical Roots. They have Vocabulary from Classical Roots 4, 5, 6, A, B, C, D, E (from grade 4 through grade 11).

We're using MCT's Caesar's English series with the Red Hot Root Words workbook from Prufrock Press. RHRW is kind of dull by itself but makes a nice complement to CE (which is light on the practice exercises).

Have you looked at English From the Roots Up? Sounds like it might fit the bill. We used it last year and liked it enough.

:iagree: You can use a flashcard maker online for free or buy the flashcards too. My daughter who has done Prima Lat & Lat Chris. I enjoys this more and she also uses Critical Thinking Word Roots B1 software too.
