BBarnes
I'm considering BJU math 5 (3rd edition) for ds next fall. How much religious content is there? Everything I read says BJU curriculum is VERY religious. Is this true with the math too? I don't mind a verse here and there, but it is math and I prefer to not be overloaded with scripture on every page.
SnowWhite
Very little. There are Bible verses in little insets here and there (not every day). Sometimes the word problems feature money sent to missionaries or Bibles bought for Sunday School. There are occasionally Bible story pictures featured. (12 disciples, pairs of animals going into Noah's ark). Definitely not every page. The "themes" with the continued story of a character are mostly secular. A carpenter and his beaver traveling the world building houses for the needy (and nary a conversion story in the mix). An unemployed clown and his seal who botch every employment opportunity that comes their way. A photographer and his squirrel shooting every national park. A museum rep visiting deep sea dives in search of treasures, with a seagull and Hispanic young friend in tow. These mostly showcase the topic of the unit in a real life setting.
