m0mmaBuck
RR recommends the following: -Balance scale -teddy bear counters -3D geometric shapes -pattern blocks -Multilink cubes We already have teddy bear counters, multilink cubes, and C-rods. Do I need/want the rest? Thanks. ETA: I will be using the Kindergarten books. Edited March 17, 2011 by m0mmaBuck

m0mmaBuck
Would the base 10 blocks be enough for Essentials Kindy? They weren't even on the listed of suggested manipulatives! Aahhhh!!!!

I didn't use that one so I can't say for sure. I can use the single cubes as counters if I need counters. I have cuisenaire rods that I haven't used. twoxcell
You don't really need any specific manipulatives. I would get something to count and sort. A scale, pattern blocks and geo shapes are fun, but not really necessary. We love C-rods here. Also you do not really need the base ten blocks until PM 1a. I forgot to mention you do use the cubes to measure with in book a.

I was/am using Singapore 1A, and we definately used the balance scale to compare weights (the last subject in the 1A books), and the multilink cubes, which are essential for addition.
