Jean in Newcastle
Decorate with red for good luck. Get some Chinese sweets - dumplings filled with sweet bean paste or sesame paste are good - from a Chinese store if you have one in your area. Stacia
Paper lanterns look pretty for decorations. You could also have the kids make their own paper lanterns or decorate ones you cut out of construction paper (then they could take them home). Egg rolls could be a good finger food for the party. Here are a couple of game ideas. Not sure if they will work for your party age range or not, but a couple of them are similar to Simon Says & Musical Chairs: http://www.childbook.com/Chinese-Children-Game-Instructions-s/79.htm
freeindeed
Great ideas, ladies. My little one was adopted from China, so it's important to me to celebrate her culture. Thanks for your suggestions.:)
Jeanne in MN
My dd had a Chinese themed birthday party one year and we made homemade fortune cookies from a recipe in Family Fun magazine. They were REALLY good! The recipe is probably archived.
