Peela
I actually type very quickly, and can get my thoughts down fairly well- I am definitely not a 2 finger keyboard pecker. However- I make LOTS of mistakes as I type and have to go back and make lots of corrections. In particular I seem to reverse letters frequently- my fingers get down all the letters to a word quickly, but not in the right order! I have never officially learned to type- I have never done a program. Any suggestions as to how I could improve my typing so as to make fewer errors? The idea of a typing program seems a bit like drudgery but I am considering it. Has anyone improved their typing skills in other ways? Or have a good cheap or online program that helped them? Teachin'Mine
This site is great! It has lessons and games. The games are awesome for improving both speed and accuracy. http://www.freetypinggame.net/ For accuracy, it also helps to have immediate feedback on your typing via an automatic spell check like Firefox has. :)
rwilliams
slow down your speed until you can achieve accuracy...then build speed slowly while maintaining accuracy.
Susan C.
I taught my dc how to type using Mavis Beacon for the computer. They have few errors and it is a more adult typing program (meaning no cute cartoons hopping all around). It cost about $10.
Dawn in OH
Like you tell your children, practice. I took typing in high school, it was mandatory. I passed, but wasn't very good at typing. After high school I got a job where I did a lot of typing (on a keyboard) and I gradually improved. I'm quite fast and accurate now. I spend a lot of time on the computer.
