babysparkler
Ds had the opportunity to be among the first "pilot" group to take the UIL Chess Puzzle-Solving Test yesterday at a chess tournament. I'm especially proud b/c he earned the first place prize with a nearly perfect paper! Grandmaster Susan Polgar collected yesterday's pilot test results to present to the UIL board for review and consideration for adding it to their test options. (Of course, that one point that he missed is just KILLING him because he was very confident he had a perfect paper, and it may be a while before the tests are released from the pilot study :glare:) Though homeschoolers are not admitted to take UIL tests, in Texas we have a Private School version of UIL that follows the UIL system... so I'm really hopeful that UIL will adopt so that our Private School version in Texas will also adopt it. Here is a link to a news story about it. And a photo of DS after receiving the first place prize from Susan Polgar herself :D
