Night Elf Posted January 1, 2011 Share Posted January 1, 2011 Thanks to this board, I found out about a website called meetup.com and located two Aspergers groups, one for parents and one for teens. Today was a teen get-together. Jeffrey (ds14) had a really great day. He was nervous about meeting new people and this was huge for him, really. He had such a good time at the diner where we ate that he went home with a couple of the other guys and they played video games for a couple of hours. He said today was surprising because he didn't think he would make friends that fast. Now, granted they just met, so "friend" is a strong word but it sure is hopeful. I've been waiting years for my son to feel ready to hang out with friends. I really hope this group leads him to a good friendship or two.
