Spryte
Looking for some ideas for a 19 year old boy, in his second year of college. He loves Jules Verne type novels, is studying theater, and has had a very difficult year. Something classic, somewhat inspiring, but not religious. Inspiring is not a necessity - classic would be enough - but it would be a bonus. Something to give him some hope that there is life ahead would be ideal. I'm stumped. He's an avid reader, so finding something he hasn't already read has been difficult. Any ideas would be deeply appreciated!
Beth in OH
The Jules Verne part stumps me a bit, because it's not really my genre. I want your post to get bumped, though, so I'll throw out a couple of ideas. My 20 yo theater major loves Oscar Wilde. C.S. Lewis wrote a space trilogy...http://www.amazon.com/Space-Trilogy-C-S-Lewis/dp/068483118X. I love unabridged recordings of anything by Dickens--so many wonderful characters! Try the Recorded Books versions. Their readers are wonderful actors.
