iammommy
We want to buy ds, 11, a decent microscope, but we can't afford to spend 400-500.00. Any suggestions? Nan
plain jane
HomeScienceTools has a HUGE selection of them in a variety of price ranges (depending on options you want). They also offer lifetime warranty on most of their scopes. I highly recommend you take a look there. We bought this one: http://www.hometrainingtools.com/ultimate-home-microscope/p/MI-5000STD/ and have been very pleased with it.
nukeswife
We just bought one from http://www.homesciencetools.com and love it. I can see it working well through highschool. It can do 40x, 100x, and 400x and for the price is well made and works excellent. It's called the Home Microscope and ours came with the microscope starter kit free. They are still offering the kit free at this time and it comes with 6 prepared slides and a box to hold them in, 12 plain glass slides, 2 concave glass slides, 100 cover slips, and a 25 slide storage box, as well as things to clean the microscope. The only other thing we added was a mechanical stage so you don't have to move the slides around by hand, but that was only $30 extra. holdoll
If you're open to the idea, we purchased a re-conditioned microscope and are very pleased with it. We paid $125 and dd uses it for Advanced Biology. Here is the contact information. The gentleman even sent the microscope before I paid him through Paypal. He was very patient and answered my endless questions. Blossom'sGirl
I got one for $10 from a local college. They were upgrading and a friend found out about it. I would call around - hey it never hurts to ask.
