ereks mom
This would be for a read-aloud for 11yog & 15yog. Both tell the stories of the Greco-Persian Wars, but which did your students find more interesting?
regentrude
Lion in the Gateway is nice, my 11 y/o enjoyed reading it - but maybe it is a bit young for a 15 y/o? -My 13 y/o is currently reading the (unedited) Herodotus and enjoys it very much. I don't know the Stories from Herodotus.
AngieW in Texas
Lion in the Gateway is perfect for your 11yo, but it's probably not enough for your 15yo.
SailorMom
I am a huge fan of Herodotus - he was a spectacular writer and historian.

I'm kind of having to meet in the middle since I have both ages, so I figured it might do for both. The 15yo is also doing research (a la TRISMS) online and in various textbooks & resource books to learn details about the societies & cultures of Classical Greece and Persia--government, religion, trade, arts & entertainment, etc.
