Michele in NC
My daughter is taking American Government this year at the local Christian school. Her teacher wants them to be prepared to write a three paragraph essay. I've heard of 5-paragraph essays, but not 3. Anyone heard of these? Teachin'Mine
Could it be to help prep them for the SAT 25 minute essay? Otherwise I have no idea either.
Paige
We were taught 3 paragraph essays in school. They are just shorter with mostly 1 main point- paragraph 1- introduction, paragraph 2- main points with supporting evidence, paragraph 3- summary and conclusion. I remember being taught the 3 paragraph essay before we were taught the 5 paragraph essay. I think I may have been in 6th or 7th grade but I'm not sure. Guest Barb B
Really, the number of paragraphs needs to fit the subject matter/topic. Try not to get hooked on the 5 paragraph essay as the only way to write. Some essays could be 5 some 3 some more. Barb
