workingmom
DS 8 has been using HWT successfully and now he's writing a bit longer like paragraphs. But he wants to skip lines between each sentence bc he says he doesn't want the basement letters (p, g, etc) to hit into his next sentence. While it makes sense, I think you need to be able to write continuously just on the page, right? How do you get your dc to not skip lines. Thanks
Kim in Appalachia
:001_huh: I make my children skip lines. I think it looks nicer and it makes it easier to read. I remember that we were required to do that in school, and even typed (!) papers had to be double spaced. If your child is that concerned with neatness, I would not discourage him. workingmom
I remember in school that we didn't skip lines but it was very neat. And yes those occasional letters did end up in the other line but you just worked around it, even your 10 year old skip's lines?
bradandmeplus2
Personally, I prefer them to skip lines, much neater looking and easier for my eyes to read. I figure if they are concerned with neatness, why mess with it!
Mandamom
I would mostly go with how large their letter formation is. Generally as your child gets more experience the size of the letters will decrease and they will be able to write on lined paper easier without the letters touching. If they are still touching skipping lines might be a good alternative.
