Amy713
My soon-to-be 6 yo loves science and experiments of all kinds... :) I'd like to get her some type of science kit for her birthday. Any suggestions?
JoyfulMama
We have enjoyed kits by Scientific Explorer and National Geographic.
Farrar
We love the Magic Schoolbus kits. We've had a couple other brands and been very disappointed.
ilovemy6kids
I bought some of these at my homeschool convention and my 6 and 8 year old loved them. http://www.amazon.com/Be-Amazing-Lab-Bag-Wonders/dp/B000E0DYOU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1279550452&sr=1-1 I only likked one of them, but there are several if you look around amazon. Jen in PA
:lurk5: I am curious about this as well. I ended up getting lots of books and art supplies for DD"s bithday because I just wasn't sure which science kits she would actually enjoy. I'll be watching here for ideas for the holiday season.:001_smile:
cougarmom4
Another idea might be to collect the supplies needed for several different experiments (either from a book or printed off the internet); put each in a separate bag w/copy of instruction page; and then put 4-5 of the bags into a Science Box of some kind. You could replenish as she finishes them. I've loved the experiments/activities from ClubZoom (remember the PBS show Zoom?). On the pbs website they have printable pages with instructions clearly written to the child....for fun things like rockets and hovercrafts, as well as many others. Most of the materials needed are things you'd typically have around your home. http://pbskids.org/zoom/printables/activities/
Amy713
Thanks for all the great ideas! CougarMom, I love the idea of making our own science kits: the gift that keeps on giving. Thanks y'all!
