swimmermom3
The Wall Street Journal carried this article today, which I found interesting in light of our recent heated debates over history texts. It's probably a good thing there wasn't an Internet then.;) I wonder what their user names and avatars would be. Then again, maybe I should just go back to planning the Middle Ages.:tongue_smilie:
Kirch
I always think it's kind of funny when people seem to think that cutthroat politics and mudslinging are recent inventions. They were BRUTAL back then. They just didn't have the means to broadcast it to the world in real time!
pdalley
I found the John Adams/Jefferson dust up to be particularly nasty. It's no wonder Abigail Adams wrote to Jefferson - upbraiding him for turning on their friendship. It's interesting to me that they made peace years later because today's mudslinging has nothing on what went on back then. Like someone else said - it's just more accessible.
