justasque
Not books, but Jim Weiss has some good storytelling CDs about early scientists and astronomers. And I second Jeannie Bendick!

Guest
So You Want to Be an Inventor, by Judith St. George, is a picture book, but it's still good for this age group. Benjamin Franklin, American Genius, by Brandon Miller Thomas Edison For Kids, Laurie Carlson Leonardo da Vinci For Kids, Janis Herbert Girls Think of Everything, Catherine Shimmesh and Melissa Sweet Mistakes That Worked, Charlotte Jones and John O'Brien Picture History of Great Inventors, Gillian Clements What a Great Idea!, Stephen Tomacek Invention, an Eyewitness book I don't see whether you have girls or boys, but a number of the Tom Swift boys' books centered around inventions of some sort or other.
