jenn-
I've decided to try and make my kids healthier lunches. I got a cookbook with a lot of recipes in it. Several of them include couscous. I have a container of couscous that dates best when used by in 2007. I realize that is 3 years ago, but the container is plastic, and the inner fresh seal has never been opened. Would you cook it up and serve it to children, or toss it?
The Girls' Mom
I would try it and see if it tastes stale or not. I wouldn't worry about it being safe, only the quality of the taste. Odds are, with it being a grain and sealed that it will be fine.
jenn-
It has been so long since I have eaten couscous (I eat low carb), I probably wouldn't recognize stale stuff.
Chris in VA
Oh, just pitch it. Couscous is cheap! :001_smile:
Teachin'Mine
As it's basically pasta, it's probably just fine, but I'd have a back up if it didn't taste right after cooking. If it has the herbs and spices packet with it, I wouldn't use that and I'd add some fresh seasonings instead.
