HappyGrace
Famous Men of Rome seems like disconnected stories, but Guerber is too involved. Is there something that's a nice connected story but not as comprehensive as Guerber? This is for ages 10 and 7, to use with TOG1. Thanks! Karen in CO
Have you looked at Augustus Caesar's World by Foster? It covers a much shorter time period in more depth. I thought it was very readable when we used it.
Orthodox6
Have you looked at Augustus Caesar's World by Foster? It covers a much shorter time period in more depth. I thought it was very readable when we used it. :iagree: P.S. The "Famous Men" series do seem "disconnected". I think, however, this may be deliberate. I always wondered whether the original author was attempting to imitate Plutarch's Lives. So I don't approach the series as I would approach a "narrative" history, such as Foster or SOTW. Kfamily
Maybe Stories From Ancient Rome by Church or Stories From the History of Rome by Beesly both are here at Yesterday's Classics: http://www.yesterdaysclassics.com/catalog/displaycatalog.php?catalog=rome I'd like the one Stories from Livy...
