Halcyon
I am looking for downloadable lit guides for 3rd grade literature--nothing too workbooks, mostly discussion prompts etc. Is there anything out there like this? For example, my son just finished Call of the Wild, and I'd love to have some prompts/ideas etc of questions to talk about, maybe with some background (historical, author-wise) to add depth to our conversations. Thanks if anyone can point me in the right direction.

karensk
Core Knowledge has several available here. The Robinson Crusoe guide is 103 pages and includes worksheets. Adam Andrews's site, The Center for Literary Education, usually has one available for free. Right now, it's The Bronze Bow guide. They might change the free sample every now and then. He uses socratic-type of questioning in his approach to lit, which I like. HTH!
